Whatever this season promised to bring, I had become tired of all of the dancing, drama, judges, and contestants. I refused to watch the whole time Chloris Leachman was on. Nevertheless then along came Gilles Poet, Lil Kim, Ty Philologue, Melissa Rycroft, The Woz, Julianne’s sweetheart, Diet Wicks, Denise Richards, Shawn Johnson, and some others that certainly didn’t excite me.
Who did I find to be the most interesting? Gilles Marini was the one I couldn’t wait to see. I really got interested in him after I saw the Sex and the City movie we he portrayed the character Dante. And as a celebrity dancer on Dancing with the Stars Gilles does not let fans of his screen work down. Most of his dances ramp up the heat in the ballroom. Carrie Ann Inaba explained that Gilles wife is a very lucky girl to have a husband with such great moves.
The big disappointment on the show was Denise Richards – she showed an almost total lack of both talent and personality. The Woz might have been the person I would like to hang out with the most, but he wasn’t cut out to be a dancer. Chuck Wicks gave it his all, and lasted longer than most. I was not interested in watching Lil’ Kim, until I saw what an amazing dancer she turned out to be. With his inspiration and choreography, Derek Huff brought Dancing with the Stars to a professional level little seen in past seasons. They were a team that showed talent as well as chemistry. How stunning was it then that Lil’ Kim was voted off ahead of several less talented dance partners.
As it stands right now the last couples in competition are Melissa and Tony, Ty and Chelsie, Gilles and Cheryl, Shawn and Mark. When Jewel fractured the tibia in both her legs five days before the season premiere, that is when Melissa stepped up and took her place. She showed immediately that she had ballet training. Ballet really paid off for Melissa. Twice she scored thirty out of thirty from the three judges. Even if you get a perfect score from the judges, you still risk being voted off the show. (Take a look at Sabrina Bryan, she was sent packing with her dancing partner Mark Ballas in the 5th season despite scoring the highest first week score and later getting the first 30 out of 30 score.) Ty Murry is the dancer who has so improved, and is also so love-able. Murry’s legion of follower’s proved to be a huge advantage. Ty has stayed on the show because of the thousands voting for him and his adorable personality. Shawn Johnson, gold medal winning gymnast, showed us that she can perform on the hard dance floor just as well as she can on a soft mat. And rounding this amazing cast of celebrities is Gilles Marini who didn’t make a move I didn’t absolutely love.
Who will bring home the trophy? An additional couple returns home this week. But afterwards, when only three celebrities and their partners are left, each dance team has a chance to prove to the judge’s they’re the ones who deserve to win. I will certainly be watching.
Getting your Dancing with the Stars fix in high definition is the greatest way to do it I’ve found. After fifteen years with my regular 32-inch screen I decided to take the leap and make the HDTV upgrade with a new widescreen TV. Oh Man! I thought “what the heck?” and added the Comcast Digital Voice and High speed internet while I was at it since they could be added for such a low rate. My download speeds and television picture are by far the fastest and clearest I have ever experienced with my new broadband service and HD Comcast Cable. As a bonus, they offer digital phone service at flat rate pricing. The phone is very clear and I can call friends and family around the US and never have to pay long distance charges. If Comcast is your local cable provider or you’re planning on moving to an area covered by Comcast, I definitely recommend calling them up and ordering their great services. I suggest using the web to find the best Comcast Cable promotions and savings out there. You really can save a bunch if you know where to find them. The Triple Play Bundle is the best way to go so make sure you consider it. All three digital services for a big discount from Comcast.
